Comprehensive Breast Care of Denver, along with the Breast Care Centers at Saint Joseph Hospital Lutheran Medical Center, Good Samaritan Medical Center and Platte Valley Medical Center recognizes the importance of providing personalized breast care. This, coupled with the team's commitment to providing the best treatment for each individual, establishes us as the premier program for breast health in Colorado. Our team of specialists understands your unique needs. Throughout your care, from diagnosis and treatment to survivorship, you will have access to board certified physicians including breast surgeons, medical oncologists, pathologists, plastic surgeons, radiation oncologists, gynecologic oncologists and fertility specialists. The oncology nurses, genetic counselors, clinical psychologists, social workers and ancillary medical staff complete your team of caregivers, all of whom are committed to providing you with the most complete and personal care.

       Our Physicians

Our medical staff is comprised of physicians who are dedicated breast specialists who have trained in breast surgery and breast imaging. Dr. Julie Barone, the medical director of Comprehensive Breast Care of Denver (CBCD), completed a surgical oncology breast fellowship. Our physicians volunteer in community leadership positions with the American Cancer Society, Susan G. Komen Foundation, and the Colorado Cancer Coalition, and Sense of Security.

Dr. Barone is the founding director of Comprehensive Breast Care of Denver. She is also the Medical Director of Exempla System Breast Services working with the Exempla Breast Centers at Good Samaritan Hospital, Lutheran Hospital, and Saint Joseph Hospital.

She was the founding director of Comprehensive Breast Care of San Diego before opening the Denver practice. She is a clinical investigator for Saint Joseph Hospital oncology research and a principle investigator for several trials.

Dr. Barone is a breast surgeon who specializes in oncoplastic procedures and high risk management. Her practice encompasses both malignant and benign breast disease including breast pain, nipple discharge, dense breast tissue, abnormal biopsies, and patients with a family history of breast cancer. She trained in general surgery at Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago prior to completing a surgical oncology breast fellowship at Columbia St. Luke's Roosevelt/Beth Israel Medical Centers in New York and a visiting fellowship in breast surgery at the European Institute of Oncology in Milan, Italy.


An active proponent of breast health, Dr. Barone is a member of the Society of Surgical Oncology, the American Society of Breast Surgeons, the American Society of Breast Disease, and the American Cancer Society. Dr. Barone is also a fellow in the American College of Surgeons and served on the executive board for the San Diego chapter. She is currently a state chair for the Commission on Cancer.
